World's Ocean Day - Ocean Cover Image

World Oceans Day

World’s Oceans Day was started in 1992 by the United Nations to raise ocean health awareness and bring sustainable practices to the fishing industry. Many of us know the ocean as a place of leisure and fun and one that provides food to our table. However, just as our ocean faces a number of challenges, so does our community. And our ocean will thrive only if we all foster a vibrant, inclusive community that comes together to protect it. As we do our part to reduce our product footprint and waste, here are a few organizations working towards healthier oceans you can support and get involved with. Electric and Rulk team up to support Firefighters

Celebrity fitness trainer @da_Rulk is a ball of positive energy. He has spent his career living an Electric life, working closely with military, police, and first responder communities to expand their fitness abilities. Rulk cares about their safety and so do we! When we found out our local firefighters did not have access to PPE, Electric and Rulk stepped in with a huge order of clear lens goggles to keep them safe while protecting our communities.

Tom Lippen Fishing

Electric presents 'GET BENT' with Tom Lippen

Tom Lippen is the type of guy that knows what he wants and goes after it. While it was Mammoth's snowboard scene that initially drew Tom from his hometown of Torrance, California, he quickly fell in love with fishing the local rivers and lakes. Tom dedicated himself to learning the ins and outs of some of California's best fisheries, and to good results. Video by @Voegs One of the fishiest guys in the region, Tom loves to fish, and loves to catch a lot of fish-you don't want to be the guy a few holes down from Tom. That passion has turned to profession and Tom consistently guides his clients into fish of a lifetime. When Tom isn't guiding or fishing himself, he loves to get back to his roots at the skatepark. He might even tie a couple of flies after because you never know what tomorrow might bring.  You can book a future trip with Tom by contacting him at @rippen_lips_flyfishing.

Join John John Florence and Vela for the trip of a lifetime

It is easy to see why John Florence would look to the ocean as a place for adventure. When you grow up on an island in the middle of the Pacific, it calls to you. Whether you surf, dive, fish, or sail, the ocean beckons for more of your soul every day until you give in to the call of the wild. For John John, it was only a matter of time. John grew up on the North Shore of O'ahu. Surfers call it the Seven Mile Miracle and tourists call it a Pacific Paradise. But, when you have spent your entire life on the North Shore beaches it is easier to think about going somewhere even more exotic. It all started with a small sailboat and a desire to get offshore. Now, with two World Surfing Championship titles, a 48' foot catamaran, a crew of good friends, and a destination over 1,000 nautical miles away, it was time to embark on the trip of a lifetime! John wore his signature, polarized JJF12 sunglasses for unparalleled comfort, clarity, and protection on the water. The articulating eye shields blocked the reflecting light from entering the side of the frame. When you are living on the water, you need protection like only the JJF12 product can offer.  You can view episode 1 & 2 on John's youtube channel now. Get comfortable and join the crew of VELA for life on the sea!

Mark Wystrach with his tongue out, cowboy hat, and Hampton sunglasses

Catching up with Country Music Star Mark Wystrach

We went live with Midland's frontman @markaroo last week. The man is never short on words and gave us all some wild insight into what it's like to tour the world playing music. We talked about life on the road in an RV. Turns out it is a little of what you think. Close quarters with sweaty bandmates, no personal space from the rest of the world, and late nights. On the flip side, there are a lot of good vibes shared and that is apparent in the consistent comedy content they put out, like this Tiger King cover on their @midland Instagram! Mark grew up on a ranch in Az. but somehow ended up being a surf bum on the  West Coast for a number of years. What he may lack in experience, he makes up for in his dedication to the craft and spends as much time surfing as possible when he is off the tour. He mentioned wanting to surf with a pro, how he plans to head to Mexico for his next surf adventure, and his wild dream of getting into Kelly Slater's infamous Surf Ranch! When it comes to eyewear, few in the world have more lens pieces than Mark. We talked about his fascination for quality eyewear and why he loves a few key pieces from Electric. Quality, clarity, and style was all Mark needed to fall in love with Electric's Crasher, Cocktail, and Hampton wire. All of what he is wearing in these photos. Mark is now in isolation back at the family ranch with his lovely wife @ty_haney and their beautiful baby girl, Sundance. Or Sunny, as the family likes to call her. Thanks for tuning in Mark and sharing some of your wild world with us.
